Oversees daily operations of team members in the Laboratory. Has responsibility for daily operations and people management.
Requirements:

3 to 5 years of directly related experience

Bachelors Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology or Department Specific Discipline

Registration or Certification with ASCP
Major Responsibilities:
- Meets all requirements of a Medical Technologist.
- Schedules and directs the work of the employees under his/her supervisory control: communicates information; orients and trains; assures observance of policies; procedures; work standards and checks for proper work completion.
- Participates in the development of staffing and organization; operating plans and programs; policies and procedures; work methods and performance standards.
- Monitors and evaluates quality control data and instrument function check documentation; determines causes and patterns of unacceptable results and initiates or suggests corrective and remedial action.
- Conducts performance appraisals for the employees assigned to the Laboratory. Recommends promotion; discipline and other administrative actions. Elevates any unresolved problems and recommends action in personnel matters as necessary.
- Responsible for accreditation requirements for the laboratory to include proficiency testing; monitoring quality assurance; formulating corrective action plans and inspection preparation.
- Participates in making decisions for equipment upgrades and replacement; comparative evaluation of new and/or modified procedures; procedure development and training.
- Actively participates in providing/attending continuing education programs.
- Assists Department Manager/Director with the formulation of departmental budget.
- Participates in departmental supervisory meetings; hospital committees and special projects.
- Supervisor is responsible for validations and upgrades of the HIS
